Treatment of backpain, muscle, joint, tendon, and ligament conditions
A safe, effective form of manual therapy aiming to relieve pain and tension associated with injuries and day to day strains. We treat all joints, ligaments and muscles in the body.
Osteopaths use a range of techniques, including massage, joint articulation, joint mobilisation, exercise prescription, lifestyle advice and stretches, some osteopaths also use cranial and visceral techniques.
Osteopathy practitioners have an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, which they use to diagnose the causes of pain and treat musculoskeletal conditions.
What is Osteopathy?
A practitioner will look at the body and how it functions as a whole, meaning that treatments often consist of more than just working directly on the symptomatic area, as there may be other areas of the body causing the symptoms to manifest.
We treat all joints, ligaments and muscles in the body, rather than just backs. After your session you’ll receive a plan of rehabilitation exercises tailored to you.
Our treatments include:
There is a growing number of research studies showing how osteopathic treatments can help treat a wide a range of issues and conditions in adults, children and babies.
Osteopathic Manual Therapy for Infant Colic
“Treatment with osteopathic manual therapy alleviates the symptoms of infant colic and could be recommended for this purpose from the onset of the condition.”
The Effects of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) on Pain and Disability in Patients with Chronic Neck Pain
“OMT is relatively safe and effective in reducing pain and disability along with improving sleep, fatigue, and depression in patients with chronic NP immediately following treatment delivered over approximately 4–6 weeks.”
Children and babies can suffer with discomfort and pain, just like adults. We are able to provide gentle osteopathy for your child.
Babies are often brought to the clinic with the following symptoms:
As a mother herself, Siân knows how important it is to keep your little one happy in the appointment and will ask plenty of questions in order to provide the most appropriate care, be it treatment, advice or if necessary, referral. Her main concern is keeping your child or baby safe and well. Some babies may only need 1-2 appointments, whereas other babies, or older children with injuries may benefit from more. This will all be discussed with you at the appointment to ensure you are happy.
We originally took Ezra to see Sian after having cranial osteopathy recommended to us by a family member.
He was born via forceps delivery after tilting his head during the last stages of labour which must have caused him some tension as during the early days he was never happy when he was awake and often seemed uncomfortable.
We decided it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try and we took him for his first session at just 11 days old. The treatment seemed to help him and we have been back for a further three sessions!
Sian is great with babies and is very gentle, stopping if he ever got distressed. Ezra is now much happier in himself!
I took my little boy to see Siân after a forceps delivery to make sure that his body was in good alignment and nothing would impact our breastfeeding and his comfort.
Sian was so good with him, he was only 6 weeks old and she was so gentle and made him feel comfortable. She also did a newborn check with was reassuring to know he was all ok. Thanks Sian, highly recommend. Your baby will be in great hands.
